You haven't missed much.
Things that have gone down since surgery:
* Cole is walking like a pro
* I have figured out that I am the only one in my family that likes curry. Anyone else out there love curry too? Anyone, anyone...
* Had an ultrasound on my leg. Thankfully, no blood clots. Still have weird pain, but it is letting up some
* I am still a big fan of my bed. It's comfy
* Made it to the dedication. Felt like I was going to pass out at one point, but glad I went
* Yes, I did watch Return to Snowy River and according to the vote taken...I would take Jim Craig over any other man-fictional or real
* My son really likes Jack Johnson. Every time I put him on, he busts a move...good boy
* My dad is a miracle-worker in the yard. All of my flowers decided to come up with a little TLC from him...and then it snowed
* Have I mentioned that I hate the snow? It has snowed almost everyday this week
* The Jazz had better get their act together
* I caught up with everything on my DVR. One of the world's greatest inventions in my eyes
* Crusty finished school and now she's leaving to the land of the sun. Am I a bad person if I am having bitter feelings towards her right now?
* I have decided that Cole's new room is going to have a surfer/beach theme. Now I just have to wait for this to go on sale
* Apparently pizza is the new official meal of the Relief Society

I'm Alive
Surgery went well. I was awake and watched the whole thing. Very cool. The most uncomfortable thing about the entire procedure was having a strange man shave my nether-regions and then he put a sterilizer on directly afterwards (can you say BURNING...just a little). I had to stop myself from yelping.
They did find another possible problem during the surgery-but hey, this is me we're talking about. I may have a problem in my lungs called AV-Malformation. Another clotting problem and possible stroke risk. I had a CT scan this afternoon to see if this is the case. It is unrelated to the heart thing, but we would have never found it without this procedure.
So far all is good. The hole is closed, and Brian brought me Cafe Rio for lunch. We'll let you know about my lungs. Until then, signing off to take a nap!

The Beauty of the Internet
I can't think of how many times I have had some random thought or question pop into my head and good ole Google can give me the answer.
That, or Wikipedia.
I've often thought, "What makes you an expert?" when chef's are getting critiqued at Judge's Table during Top Chef, or when I read food articles. You can't obtain a degree in Food Critic Science from your local culinary school. What is it that makes these people able to give their brutally honest opinion and we take it as gospel?
I mean, Jeffrey is a Harvard educated lawyer...yet he is the most revered judge on Iron Chef.
He's also the meanest.
So I checked it out through my trusty search engine and found that you just really have to have a lot of money and some writing skills. You have to be able to travel extensively and eat out a lot. It's a plus if you can speak four languages and take cooking classes non-stop. Then you can get paid to bash or give glowing reports about other people's cuisine.
Food bloggers are popping up left and right; but the critic seats are still reserved for models, actresses, designers, lawyers and occasionally chefs.
In my next life-I am going to be a foodie. Maybe I'll specialize in global cuisine.
Wikipedia told me that I can.

Cole, Cousin Grant and the Dogs
Cole and Grant love the dogs; Leilani and Lily. Here's a look for the Florida gang at the fun (possibly torture) that comes about whenever we let them loose!

A Bright Spot
Cole decided once he came home from the hospital that he was going to start walking...for real. No more teasing with five steps one day, none the next. Here he is in all his glory walking from the bedroom to the living room with only a few falls. The last part is a funny thing he does with the footboard on our bed. He grabs it and bounces up and down like he's riding a horse. Silly kid!
It's Been One Of Those...
You know, one of those.
One of those days. One of those weeks. Sadly, sometimes it feels like it is evolving to be one of those years.
You understand. Right?
One of those days where you feel pain on the side of your nose. Nature, telling you that inevitably a red mountain the size of Timpanogos is going to erupt...you just don't know when.
Or when after getting ready to exercise you are reminded of a certain breakfast item when you glance at yourself in the mirror.
Or a pre-pubescent boy. Genetics. That seemingly only you out of all of your sisters seemed to inherit. (When are they coming out with padded sports bras?) Just one of those things.
When the dry cleaners calls to say they have put a hole in your favorite jacket. They would like to do something about it. You go and accept their offer to "make it right" and come out of there angry, without your jacket, because they have to keep it for insurance purposes. Whatever!
We've all been there.
Days when you feel like you just can't get it together. You lose things. Your child decides to spill juice all over you while in public. Those kind of things happen to everyone.
Just not all at the same time.
You all know the stuff that has happened in the last little while. This is where it just starts to get funny.
The culminating event:
Brian and I made a New Years Resolution to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones. Sadly, we don't get out much. I think that I know two people from my former life that live within my city's limits. SO-we (I) decided to invite people from our new ward over since it had been 6 months and not one invitation was extended. I had the grand idea spring from something that my parent's used to do as a ward activity called "Friendship Dinners". Each person was given an assignment to bring to the party, hosts rotated and eventually everyone in the ward was able to get together with everyone else. You were exposed to those that you might have just said, "Hi" to in the hall, but would have not really gotten to know otherwise. I was excited. I set up themes. February was going to be fondue. Something that I knew I could pull off well. I asked our Bishop in January who he thought would be good candidates for our first party. He gave me a list of names.
The invitations went out. I got RSVP's, I bought decorations, planned and planned. This is a party that Angela and Phyllis would have been clamoring to be on the committee for.
The date is looming near. Cole gets hospitalized, etc. I have to reschedule. My bishop mentions to me that "I know you are trying to make new friends, but don't you think this is kind of dramatic?"; mentioning the paramedics and fire truck in front of our home. Gotta love him. Really.
People are understanding about the change. A few can not make it the next week due to prior commitments. I get a resounding "sure, we'll be there" from the majority. I even invite others to fill the vacancies. So, I plan some more.
Last night. No one showed up.
It looked great though.
We even got desperate and started calling people. Wow. I am a loser after all. I don't even want to calculate how much food I threw away.
To tell you the truth, I am not surprised. It fits in with the theme. Hey, will you be my friend? I feel like I need to go to a self-esteem seminar or something! Maybe I can start hiring people, like an escort service, but just to come over to my house and get free food. All in all it was a good laugh.
Really? Can you think of someone else with this kind of luck? Lisa was right when she made this statement when I was flat on my back in a parking lot.
So please...for my sake. If you tell someone that you are going to come to an event; at least call and let them know you are not going to be able to make it. That way they can get desperate early enough to call in reinforcements.
