Cole has started to say and do some really funny things lately. His awareness for object permanence and whether things are alive are not is kind of out of sync. It makes for some good laughs though. He is really into talking to inanimate objects lately.

He talks to the pumpkins in our living room like they are dogs. We brought them from the garden into the house, so he could enjoy them. Example,
"Come here, pumpkin. Here, pumpkin. Good pumpkin."

He was roaming the house yesterday, calling for the temple.
"Where are you temple? I can't hear you!"

The Beginning

Cole goes into the hospital tomorrow to officially begin the diet. We are going to try and keep our epilepsy blog updated. He will most likely be there for the rest of the week. We hear there is a lot of down time in between getting his blood drawn every 4 hours around the clock. If you are in the area, he can have visitors.

It's Still His Favorite Activity

Too Early For Thanksgiving?

I cooked my first turkey solo the other day. Most of Brian's fam was there as a witness, but the pic proves it.Have to give a shout out to Cris for the advice, "Just think of it as a glorified chicken!" It totally helped and the bird turned out delicious.

Poor Parenting

We have been raising an avid sports fan. He loves to clap and cheer for any sport, but his favorite is watching the Utah Jazz.

Apparently, it's a good thing their season is practically over. This is how he felt about tonight's game. It also proves that his parents need to really watch their language! I'm not sure why Brian was praising him :)

Melt My Heart

Cole: Mama?
Mom: Yes, baby?
Cole: (whispering) I love you.
Mom: I love you too!
Cole: (again with the whisper) I love too.

This is the first time he has ever done that spontaneously!

Unfortunately, he went to time out soon afterwards for spitting in my face, a lovely little trick he has picked up lately. :)

Put Your Heads Together

We are looking for a name/catch phrase for our upcoming fundraiser for Cole. We still do not have a location, so if you know someone who knows someone, that would be awesome too! Until then, keep making stuff for the auction or talk to people about things they can donate. So far we have: Epilepsy Warriors presents Collect For Cole, Cash for Cole, Share for Seizure Prevention, Dough for Cole.

Epilepsy Association of Utah has a great acronym H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People with Epilepsy). I don't know if we could use it. I know that you are all creative, let's come up with something that people will remember!

My Little Domestic

Someone said the other day,
"If you don't think he's cute, there is something seriously wrong with you!"
I agree.The shopping cart remains a favorite. He goes up and down the "aisle" (hall) every day. Maybe he can clip coupons since I am so busy trying to do other stuff? He already has some cleaning skills.

Keto Kid

Cole is going to start the ketogenic diet in April. He will spend 3-4 days in the hospital getting his body adjusted. It's going to be a huge undertaking and a lifestyle change for us. We have started a new blog just dedicated to epilepsy and Cole's journey. You can find it here. I have worked hard on this project, but it is not perfect yet. It gives Brian and I comfort when we find other people on the Internet who are struggling with the same things. We have even met a group of Utah parents whose kids are on the ketogenic diet through blogs. We hope that we can give that same support to others that might feel like they are the only ones going through this.

Life as a Contact Sport

After months of multiple falls and injuries like thisand this where we had to get his forehead glued shutand theseand others.

We got a helmet. We call it the "hat".Cole has been pretty good about wearing it, but it doesn't protect from all falls. I am glad that it has cut down on the constant massive green spot on his forehead.

How about this one?You can't really tell, but the fat lip was received in nursery after a drop seizure and the double bruises on the forehead are from one fall without the helmet and one fall with, when it moved to the side.

One Year Ago

One year later: Still have headaches. Only had one seizure since. No stroke.

Things are good.

Wonder what condition I would be in with all of the stress lately if I had not have done this. Everything happens for a reason.

Stale

I have officially become one of those people that let's their blog sit forever, with no new postings.

aka STALE.

I keep thinking I'm going to get to it. There has been a lot happening. Things like Brian turning 30, Christmas, Cole turning 2, a trip to Florida, Cole's first InstaCare visit, etc. Somehow in between neurofeedback, speech therapy, the early intervention teacher, seizures, Scentsy, trying to keep the house clean (keyword trying) and the other stuff going on around here...it just hasn't happened.

So to those who have requested that I get my act together-I'm making it a goal (not a promise).

I still enjoy peeking at all of your latest and greatest. Keep it up! Maybe someday I'll come back and join you :)

The Big 3-0

All he wanted to do in Florida was water-ski. Wish granted.We had a party on the Saturday before. Cris made an INCREDIBLE cake.I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bri, you have a lousy birthday. Right in the middle of Christmas and New Years. Everyone is gone and has already spent their money. Maybe we can celebrate your six month birthday from now on :)

He got Jazz tickets. The first game was on our anniversary (which is only a week after his big day). We had a great time, but the Jazz could not pull it together.


Man, we're getting old!
