Can You Say NBA???

Well folks, this kid has definitely got the tall gene. All my life I have been surrounded by people of average height, but it seems that my child is going to pass me up...and quick! I remember what a big deal it was to be taller than my Grandma Tweet, who is only 4' 11". I took Cole in today for his 4 month check and shots. Last time, at 2 months, we were in the 91 percentile for height. This time around, at 4 months, he's jumped to the 95% for height! My pediatrician said that 6' 3" is the 90% and that Cole will definitely be above that. AHHH! I can't keep him in clothes as it is. The thing that is so funny is that he is just average for weight so if it's long enough, it's too big around the middle, plus the doc said that he will get skinnier. Yes, Cole is Brian's child all the way! Don't mind the scratches on his face-I do his nails every three days and he still scratches himself to no end! So stats are as follows: Length-26.75 in=95%; Weight-15.3 lbs=58% (up from 46%); Shoe Size-who knows?? My baby is growing so fast! Sometimes it feels like I have been doing this for years and at others it feels like just a few days. Brian is already talking about basketball. Maybe we should crawl first??

We Welcome You....

In the words of my Uncle Kevin, "Why does this baby have a comb-over?" Yes, we know that Cole's hair is really long and really thin on top. It won't go any way but to the right and he literally does look like he has the hair of an old man. My mom got creative the other night and took the really long pieces on top, twisted them into "horn-like" appendeges and started moving Cole from side to side while my dad sang, "We Represent the Lollipop Guild" (with his own made up words). It was slightly embarassing and kind of funny.
Mom cut some of the stray hairs that were hanging clear into his ears the next day (sorry Mand).
They did the same act again at Aunt Cari's for a larger audience and the antennae were not as long. Only two more weeks and this munchkin will get a REAL haircut

She Did It!

It was kind of touch and go there for a while, even with a threat of summer school with all of the absences she had, (this kid missed more school her senior year than I did in my entire life)! Yes, Cristine really did graduate on Wednesday. She still got straight A's and graduated with honors! Congratulations!
Cole and I went all the way up there and didn't even get to attend the ceremony. Idaho was being Idaho and the wind was blowing around 32 miles an hour and the graduation was, of course, outside. So we stayed in with Harman, Aunt Jess, Duke, Ivie, Madeline and Grandma Tweet to make dinner for everyone! I must say that productivity was down because of the American Idol finale. Madi wouldn't even respond to questions she was so far into her own little world! The graduates and the VERY cold supporters came home and we had a great dinner. We are so proud of Cris! We had to get up before the sun the next morning because the poor people just had to make it to the airport-to go to HAWAII! What a senior trip! Cris, Sadie, and Aunt Cari were more than a little tired since they had been at the Senior Celebration until 5 am, got home and slept for 45 minutes,and then we left! It was a tight fit with everyone in one car but they made it to the airport more than on time. I got the lovely job of sending them off and driving the car to my house where it will sit for a week reminding me that they are there and I am not. I am happy for them but there is this other emotion floating around that feels more like homesickness than jealousy. I haven't been back in five years and to watch everyone pack their suitcases, drop them off at the airport, and have Mathis say, "I'll send you pictures"....it made me kind of sad.
To my ladies: Faith and Lissa-I miss you more today than I have in a long time! Remember this day? We had a lot of fun.
I came home and my sweet husband had bought me a new pair of shoes because he missed me! I took them as my consolation prize.
Mom, Dad, Cristine, Mathis, Aunt Cari, Natalie and Sadie-have fun! Mom wrote me a text and promised that The Chicken House on Moana street would be part of the tour and they would have a moment of silence.

Leilani

Miss Leilani had some minor surgery yesterday. We had her officially "fixed" and she had a hernia repaired. To say the least she has been a little slower than usual. I have never seen her so mild. It made me wonder what it would be like to have a dog that just laid around! Yesterday she hardly moved from her bed upstairs when we brought her home-rightly so (I don't think I would want to move either)! However, she woke up around 4:00 this morning and trotted into my room and nudged my hand to let us know she was ready to get back to her routine. After being let outside for a second she went straight downstairs to her kennel and wanted to be let in :) For all of those Leilani lovers out there, know that she is back to her old self: giving me "the look" when Cole is crying and following me around everywhere, including into the bathroom. Here are some pictures, which are usually hard to get because she won't sit still (ignore the rash, we're treating that too)! I know she looks horrible-she felt it. We've got some great meds and a little TLC and she'll be back to jumping around and driving me crazy!

Mother's Day

I'm going to follow the lead of my sister Kate and send some love to my Mommy. This woman is INCREDIBLE! To think of all she has dealt with, especially in the last year and she's still pressing forward-is awesome. She is our sounding board, creative counsel, listening ear, and is not afraid to still tell us what to do. I don't know what any of us would do without her! I do not have many pictures of just her because she is always the one behind the camera. I do know that we would have ugly homes, no prom dresses, and would forever be searching for the recipe for such and such. So here's to you mom, the woman who started it all...Happy Mother's Day! I am so glad I got to spend most of it with you (even if you were in a body cast), I love you!

On another note...I had a TERRIFIC Mother's Day! It included a suprise trip to the spa, flowers, Cole rolling over for the first time, pancakes and a card. I know, I know, I can't even keep up with Brian!

We have to give a shout out to our boys! As dedicated Jazz fans who watch every game possible, (those of you who remember watching in the hospital, during labor, would agree); we need to give some cyber-love to the guys that can get our hearts pumping and Grandma Tweet praying. I am sure that after tonight's loss she is mad as ever at Jerry Sloan (she has harsh feelings against him, but I am sure she is working on it). All women out there will admit that Kyle Korver is one of the most beautiful people on the earth today! This includes Tweet who I have personally witnessed standing in front of the television trying to take a picture of him with his shirt off in the locker room!

To all of them-Boozer, Deron, Okur, and even Andre...good luck and please continue to give us an excuse to yell at the television for a few more weeks!

We're Back!

I must admit...I have never had such harsh feelings for Utah. After spending some time in Florida with near perfect weather, we returned to the snow-it's May for crying out loud! I am realistic and know that it's going to snow in April but perhaps this year being stuck in my little old house that is FREEZING at times, all day long, makes me a little grumpier when I realize that warm weather is not going to come any time soon (to stay anyway....it might make an appearance). Those of you who know me are well aware that I could have summer 360 days of the year (let it snow during Christmas)!

We had fun in Florida. Brian got to see a lot of old friends and we spent a lot of time with family. Swimming, Disney World, Kennedy Space Center, southern Bar-B-Q, it was all good. Cole tolerated both days of traveling MUCH better than I thought he would. Now we're just trying to get him re-adjusted to Utah time.
