Out with the Old

Good-bye colorful red wall. Hello multi-purpose white! This was the project of the weekend. As we "hurry up and wait" for Cole, getting things done little by little has helped to give us something else to focus on. I'm running out of big projects and things to purchase....this baby had better come soon or I might go over my budget :)

Oral Surgery

I do not know of any other surgery that encourages gifts of dessert! Who knew that I could get Krispy Kremes, Cheesecake Factory, popsicles, ice cream, and some dangerously gotten sabayon? All in all things are going pretty well. The surgeon was great and had my wisdom tooth out in less than 60 seconds. It took longer for him to "numb me up" than to get the actual tooth out. I am slightly swollen but have my good friends the ice packs on hand. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers-could not have done it without you. Big thanks to dear old Dad who played nurse while Brian was in school. Natalie and I just ended up being entertained instead of intense bedside attendance (he could have done it if he had to though) :) I know that the next time won't go as smoothly since there will be three teeth and they are all impacted, BUT that's a few months down the road. Now we can concentrate on getting this baby here!

Hyer Baby Shower

After hours of being in "pending" mode due to snow, it finally came together on Jan 5! We had a nice brunch with some of Brian's aunts, grandma, and cousins. Lots of fun gifts and good advice from the clan for baby Cole. They are as excited for him to come as we are! Grandma Hyer has suggested that we deliver the 24th great-grandchild on the 24th. I guess I will do what I can:)

Happy New Year!

We had a progressive New Year's party to bring in 2008. Starting out at the Gaby's for appetizers, then off to the Eames' for games. Most already know that the spoon game ended up more like an argument/fire drill. I enjoyed telling my fortune through a handful of M&M's. I am getting money and health in the future, but not a speck of romance. I guess a baby will do that to you. We busted out some old favorites like the Name Game and we even got to predict if Aunt Cari will have another baby in the next year-answer is hazy, try again later. Then off to Uncle Jack's for midnight breakfast. All in all it was a classic Harman party-all night long with lots of laughs!

Brian's GOLDEN Birthday

Brian turned 28 on the 28th of December....his golden birthday. I knew nothing about golden birthday's until his Aunt Diane informed me that they are a big deal. We had some delicious cake, even if it was lopsided, and a turkey dinner to celebrate. Joined by the Gaby's and the Eames family, we tried to make it special. Brian kind of gets the short end of the stick when it comes to his birthday...3 days after Christmas. I promised him that we would see National Treasure II and we waited just for him. Good thing we got tickets early-there is nothing else to do in rural Idaho and they were sold out by the time we got there!

Tis the Season to be....wierd?

Well we did not get to go to Disneyland with the rest of them, but Christmas was spent in the good/crazy company of family. Brian went back and forth while I camped out and watched movies, relaxed, and got addicted to some all day TV marathons. (Cam-it is so true, the Deadliest Catch is awesome....I will never make fun of you again). Some other highlights: *Company at all hours of the day *Grandpa Garth reading the Christmas story while Lusia steals baby Jesus *Brian's new video camera-watch out Lake Powellers, he's planning on making another documentary! *Mathis sporting the new belt buckle next to Uncle Jack *Brendon and Mat's snow cave *Duke telling Brian he needs help from "The Love Doctor" The list could go on and on.
