Anticipation is Building

For those of you that are familiar with Brian's emotions...he doesn't get too riled up about anything. This is mostly a good thing. However, this also means on the oposite side of the spectrum, he doesn't get very excited about much. I have found the one thing that makes him thrilled....Lake Powell! So with Jim and Diane coming in this week and the crew headed out on Sunday, Bri is pretty excited to start the boating season. He got the Valenica up and running on Saturday and we are proud to announce...yes, it does work! You just never know with a boat that is 29 years old! Cole is going to get his first exposure to the Hyer family tradition next week, but I think we'll wait a couple of years before we try skis :)

Grandparents

I have been thinking a lot about my grandparents lately. I got the opportunity to spend some time with them in St George and it just reminded me what great people they are! Grandma Tweet taught me how to shop and love the outdoors. Grandpa Rob helped to teach us how to work and have a love for sweets!
Tweet is always one for expanded our knowledge and getting us some cultural opportunities. She asked me to come to Tuacahn and see Les Miserables with her, Emmeline and Madeline. I missed the beginning due to an unfortunate stomach problem caused by a protein smoothie, but the rest was fantastic! I always leave that theatre amazed by the productions. There were live goats, dogs, a pig, horses with carriages and a buggy, cannons, fireworks, smoke, the whole nine yards! It's incredible what they do out there! The wildlife is also incredible with a tarantula as large as my hand that had to be disposed of by the management and Madi said she saw a scorpion the night before. Welcome to the desert!
I think my favorite moment was playing games (Mexican Train for those who are familiar) with everyone and Grandpa got a little crazy. He pushed all of the dominos on the floor as Grandma was threatening him not to! It was hilarious, he was laughing and had a devilish grin the entire time! These two are so funny and they really have their priorities in line. They have served multiple missions and make their family and the temple be at the top of the list. I can't think of any special occasion in my life that they have not been a part of, even if it means driving for 8 hours! They keep us in line with their e-mails and remind us who we're working for. So to the "old duffers"...I love you, I have no idea what we would do without you! Thanks for being so wonderful.

St George

Fun Stuff

It's been a while, I know. I don't have the excuse of flooding like Kate, but there is still no internet access at the new house in St George. I came home and our computer had been fried and we're trying to put it back together. I'll try to shove everything into one post if I can!
Cole and I were gone for a week and a half while Brian took two trips for work. The first one to Mississippi was awful in terms of travel. After getting in at four in the morning, having to switch hotels, missing flights and sitting in planes on the runway only to turn back...again, he came out of it with a good presentation and $600 Delta dollars! The second to Memphis, TN went much smoother.
We hung out with Mand and the kids, Mathis was there for a few days, Dad for a few days, Cristine's "friend that is a boy" for a few days and Madeline, Grandma and Grandpa. Mom and Cris were permanent fixtures. We had a lot of fun. We shopped-of course...it's St George! We played, swam, laughed and ate. All very good Harman things to do. Cole is growing so fast that some of the clothes that fit him at the beginning of the trip, did not fit him at the end. SO annoying because I started buying 3 to 6 month clothes probably 6 weeks ago when we were in St George last time!
He really enjoyed the pool as compared to the ocean. He acted just like he was in the bathtub, totally calm and relaxed. He also got a haircut and I think it needs to be even shorter!
I read the Twilight Series AGAIN in just a couple of days and I am SO excited for the new book to come out in August! I have started The Host and I'm kind of like everyone else out there...this book is hard to get into. I don't waste my time staying up late to read it like the others. I did not get a tan, but who is suprised? We had a great time and are getting ready for Lake Powell and the Harman Reunion!

Have I Gotten Stale??

One thing that I can say about summer is that my fellow bloggers and I seem to be stale when it comes to posting. There is way to much going on (even though we find time every day to check everyone else's blogs). So in between trying to not kill my dog, arrange all the activities for the cruise, laundry, dishes, taking care of the baby and such I will try to make more posts.
Cole and I are headed to St George this weekend to hang out with Mand and the kiddos, Grandma Tami, and Cris for a whole week! Brian has to go to Mississippi and Memphis,TN in the next two weeks so I took the approach that I am not going to hang out at home alone when we can hang out with the girls! All that will be missing is Kate. So here's to a new resolution to not have a stale blog...although I am not sure we have the internet yet at the new casa, so it might be a while!

Can You Say NBA???

Well folks, this kid has definitely got the tall gene. All my life I have been surrounded by people of average height, but it seems that my child is going to pass me up...and quick! I remember what a big deal it was to be taller than my Grandma Tweet, who is only 4' 11". I took Cole in today for his 4 month check and shots. Last time, at 2 months, we were in the 91 percentile for height. This time around, at 4 months, he's jumped to the 95% for height! My pediatrician said that 6' 3" is the 90% and that Cole will definitely be above that. AHHH! I can't keep him in clothes as it is. The thing that is so funny is that he is just average for weight so if it's long enough, it's too big around the middle, plus the doc said that he will get skinnier. Yes, Cole is Brian's child all the way! Don't mind the scratches on his face-I do his nails every three days and he still scratches himself to no end! So stats are as follows: Length-26.75 in=95%; Weight-15.3 lbs=58% (up from 46%); Shoe Size-who knows?? My baby is growing so fast! Sometimes it feels like I have been doing this for years and at others it feels like just a few days. Brian is already talking about basketball. Maybe we should crawl first??

We Welcome You....

In the words of my Uncle Kevin, "Why does this baby have a comb-over?" Yes, we know that Cole's hair is really long and really thin on top. It won't go any way but to the right and he literally does look like he has the hair of an old man. My mom got creative the other night and took the really long pieces on top, twisted them into "horn-like" appendeges and started moving Cole from side to side while my dad sang, "We Represent the Lollipop Guild" (with his own made up words). It was slightly embarassing and kind of funny.
Mom cut some of the stray hairs that were hanging clear into his ears the next day (sorry Mand).
They did the same act again at Aunt Cari's for a larger audience and the antennae were not as long. Only two more weeks and this munchkin will get a REAL haircut
